Media Literacy Project (C022) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who love the media, journalism and current affairs.

  

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  • detect bias and propaganda in news articles
  • use story-telling to move a cause
  • write a report on an event.

Further details

The students are expected to attend all the sessions where they will learn about journalism, the media sector, propaganda, bias, skills related to reporting and meet real-life journalists. They will also do some activities outside of the course hours and deliver a presentation about it. 

The sessions shall be typically divided as follows: 

  • 6 x 2hrs sessions
  • 2 x 2 hrs student-led activities
  • 2 x 2hrs evaluation sessions

This project can be used as part of an SOK project. Furthermore, this project is ideal for those who wish to embark on a career in the media and communications sector. 

 


Conditions 

  • Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

  • A minimum 15 students are required to run the unit.
  • A maximum of 45 students shall be allowed to take part in the unit.
 

Registration/Participation fees 

No registration/participation fees are required. 

No registration fees are required, however students are to buy their personal tools and materials.
