The Department of Accounting and Economics at Ġ.F. Abela, Junior College is presenting a series of introductory sessions for prospective Economics students who have no prior knowledge of the subject. The aim of these sessions is to provide a taster of the subject with a particular emphasis on issues concerning teens and shall introduce simple economic concepts and a basic understanding of how the economy works. These sessions shall assist students to bridge the gap and acquire the necessary skills to ensure a smooth transition in their learning path should they wish to choose the subject at post-secondary level. The sessions shall utilise a practical hands-on approach.
Sessions shall provide an introduction to everyday Economics and shall cover contemporary topics such as responsible shopping and ethical consumerism, jobs and their remuneration, the Economics of sports and wage differentials, externalities and teenagers, cryptocurrency, financial literacy, smart money habits and the Economics of social media influencers, amongst others.
These sessions are targeted for 14-16 year-olds who intend to take Economics at Junior College at Intermediate or Advanced level or those who simply want to explore the subject.
When? Every Monday (7 July – 15 September 2025) with a break during Santa Maria week.
Where? Junior College.
What time? 09:30 – 11:30.
The registration fee of EUR100 for the sessions has to be carried out online through the website payment gateway portal.
