Marketing is the science and art of exploring, creating, and delivering products and services of value, in order to to satisfy the unfulfilled needs of their customers at a profit. In order to do so companies must engage customers, build strong customer relationships, and create and capture customer value.


No knowledge of Marketing is required as the subject material is thought from the ground up and the basics of the subject are covered to ensure a solid understanding of all required concepts. Commitment and the right attitude are expected by all students selecting the subject.


Some of the topics covered include a study of the Marketing Environment, Marketing Research, The Marketing Mix, Consumer and Business Buying Behaviour, Market Segmentation, Product, Pricing, Distribution and Marketing Communication strategy, International Marketing and other interesting topics.

No, but should you wish to continue on the B.Com. course you will need to also choose Pure Maths at Intermediate level. It is always recommended to consult with the University Junior College guidance team for additional information.


You will basically study the same fundamental principles based around the 4 Ps of marketing at both levels.

At Advanced Level your course will include 5 hours of lectures and a 1 hour tutorial for applied marketing practice. The subject material will be covered in more detail and it includes some interesting topics that are not included at Intermediate Level.

At Intermediate Level your course will include 2 hours of lectures per week and cover the material in less depth. Intermediate level still gain a solid basic understanding of Marketing supported with practical examples.


Mainly, our students will follow a course within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accounting (FEMA) to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree (B.Com.). FEMA offers degrees in Marketing, Accountancy, Banking & Finance, Economics, Insurance, Management and Public Policy.

Several students also choose to read for a Bachelor of Communications (Honours) (B. Comms.) or a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (Honours) (B.Sc. IT) degrees with the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, respectively.

However, Marketing at both levels is also very useful for most students that want to read for any degree at University. This is because in practice all companies and professionals will have to deal with customers as well as marketed properly to succeed.

Marketing will help students follow careers in sectors such as marketing management, sales, retailing, and advertising. It is also highly recommended to students who would like a career in any industry or profession such as (but not restricted to) doctors, lawyers, gaming, tourism, architects and pharmacists. This is because marketing teaches students how to understand customers and satisfy their requirements, which is essential in businesses whether they are selling to consumers or other businesses.
