In this day and age, knowledge of Economics is becoming increasingly important in everyday life.

Hardly a day goes by that we are not bombarded with economic information which we have to try to understand. Besides being an academic discipline, Economics provides the student and the practitioner with the necessary concepts and insights required to analyse and understand our increasingly complex world.

We teach Economics at Advanced and Intermediate Level to students sitting for the MATSEC Examination.

Advanced Level and Intermediate Level courses

Economics is a fascinating subject which can help students to acquire the ability to analyze the economic problems faced by individuals and nations; problems that one hears about in the news or come across in our daily lives.

The study of Economics should not be seen as the accumulation of knowledge. Rather, the application of theory, the analysis of data, the discussion of case studies and the gathering of information through different sources should help to make the subject an interesting one.

Theories of the firm, market structures, national income, the role of money, inflation and economic growth are some of the areas of study.

Knowledge of economics is gaining in importance in all fields of life, from diplomacy to engineering, from politics to law. The subject is being taught in foundation courses for many degree courses at our University. Also, Economics at advanced level is essential for students reading for degrees in accountancy, management and Economics.

Students are not required to have a SEC 'O' level certificate in Economics to follow an Advanced Level or Intermediate Level course at the Junior College. All one needs is commitment.
