Rugby (W012) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who love physical activity and the game of rugby

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  • have good knowledge of the game of rugby
  • perform rugby specific tasks such as passing and tackling with proper technique and safely
  • join a local rugby team, should they wish to do so.
  •

Students registering for this club will have the sessions as follows:

  • 1 x 1 hr – introduction to basic rugby rules
  • 2 x 1 hr – introduction to passing
  • 2 x 1 hr – introduction to tackling
  • 2 x 1 hr – combining passing and tackling
  • 3 x 1 hr – introduction to team tactics.

Conditions

  • Registration is on a first come first served basis.
  • A minimum number of six students is required to run the unit.
  • Students will be expected to :
  • respect the JC Code of Behaviour at all times
  • be punctual, respectful and to observe norms and regulations
  • be committed to the weekly session and participate fully
  • dress appropriately in sports wear
  • be aware to expect that there will be safe and controlled contact during the session as rugby is a physical contact sport
  • fill in all documentation as required
  • get a towel, drink and change of clothes.
