Welcome to the Junior College Italian Department

Italian is offered at both Advanced and Intermediate levels. The aim of these courses is to develop students’ comprehension and communication of Italian, developing skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing. This is why all sessions are delivered in Italian and students are encouraged to use the language at all times.

To keep abreast with the contemporary language, lecturers provide students with articles taken from magazines and newspapers such as Panorama, Gente, Oggi, Il Corriere della Sera and stress the importance of reading contemporary authors such as Camilleri, Maraini, Moccia. No reading would definitely lead to failure because students would lack the necessary skills for discussion, essay writing as well as doing more mistakes that at this level ought to be eliminated. Motivation to read would help students carry out an interesting conversation, hence developing further their oral/aural skills.
