The Department of Accounting and Economics at Ġ.F. Abela, Junior College is presenting a series of introductory sessions for prospective accounting students who have no prior knowledge of the subject. The aim of these sessions is to assist these students bridge the gap and acquire the necessary skills to ensure a smooth transition in their learning path should they wish to choose the subject at post-secondary level. The course shall take a hands-on practical approach and shall also introduce digital accounting.
Sessions shall provide an understanding of basic financial literacy including the preparation of personal budgets, understanding and interpretation of bank statements and the preparation of the cashbook. These sessions shall introduce the subject starting off from the double entry, balancing off and the preparation of a trial balance. The course shall conclude with an overview of basic financial terminology and the preparation of financial statements of a sole trader.
These sessions are targeted for 14–16-year-olds who intend to take Accounting at Junior College at Intermediate or Advanced level.
