Stargazer Astronomy Group (X007) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who are interested in astronomy, cosmology, physics, chemistry and engineering.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

• be able to carry out simple night time sky observations
• know basic concepts of cosmology
• be aware of the possibilities UM offers in astronomy-related courses.

The meetings will be communicated from time to time by the EP Coordinator, as these depend on the weather conditions.

Maximum marks possibly earned in this EPU: 5 marks 

Further details

The sessions include lectures, university visits and night time sky observations. There will be a minimum of four major activities spread out across the academic year and a day time observation session at JC (solar or lunar).

Additional benefits

The student can make contact with staff at the Institute of Space Science and Astronomy, and discuss possible SOK projects with the SOK Coordinator.

• Registration is on a first come first served basis.
• Students are expected to:

• • attend and participate in all activities
  • present duly filled in consent forms from guardians for activities outside the College Campus.
