Learners who are beginners and would like to learn to read music. Playing an instrument or singing is considered an asset.

This course will help learners to:

  • obtain the objectives specified in Part II (Harmony, Counterpoint) of the IM MATSEC Music syllabus .
  • read and write music.
  • Learners have to be 18 years of age by December 2022.

October 2022 - April 2023.

  • The course will consist of two (2) weekly sessions of one (1) hour each. The delivery of sessions will be based on class-based lectures.
  • A certificate of participation will be awarded to learners who complete the course.
  • Written exercises during the last 15 minutes of each session.
  • Work assigned at home.
  • The course learners are expected to be punctual and attend all the lectures/units for which they are registered.
  • It is also important that learners keep in mind that they are expected not just to attend lectures, but also to read additional material as instructed by the tutors. Hence, while lectures are important as they provide guidelines to be followed, learners are expected to increase their knowledge by further reading of related books, journal papers and periodicals.
  • Learners are expected to work out published assignments.
  • The course will open subject to a minimum number of learners registering.
  • Other conditions may apply.

A fee of €100 is to be paid upon registration.

    An application fee of €23.30 is to be paid once at application stage. All application fees are non-refundable.
